This mod for the EHX Canyon Delay opens up a whole new universe of possibilities for an already amazing pedal. With infinite repeats, accessible trails, and adjustable subdivisions on the fly, the Grand Canyon mod is sure to inspire you and take your creativity with delay to new heights.
First, we remove the main stomp switch and add two new, high-quality momentary stomp switches. The right switch is now your bypass switch and the left switch is where the magic happens. Hold down the left switch to engage infinite repeats. This overrides the Feedback control and sends your signal into oscillating bliss. Next, we solder in a toggle switch to allow you to turn the delay trails on and off without having to remove the pedal from your board and open it up with a screwdriver. This is extremely handy as some moments in a song benefit from the musicality that trails offer, while other moments just need a clean cutoff of the delay. This mod makes both options much more readily available.
After that, we add a 1/8 inch (3.5mm) jack near the output. This can be connected to an external momentary switch (any normally open tap tempo will work) to change the delay subdivisions on the fly, with your foot. It does the same thing as pressing the center white button on the Canyon, but you have the option to scroll through your subdivision settings without reaching down in the middle of playing. The color of the LED will correspond to the type of subdivision just like normal.
Lastly, we add a clear "amp-style" jewel bezel to plug up the hole that the original stomp switch left. We move the color changing LED underneath the jewel bezel, since the trails toggle is now where the LED originally was.
